Freedom of Information
Pending the introduction of the general right of access to information created by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Home Office and its Agencies remain committed, under the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information.
- promote informed policy making and debate;
- provide timely and accessible information to explain the Department's policies,actions and decisions; and
- respond to reasonable requests for information.
The Department for Constitutional Affairs has policy responsibility for the Code of Practice. The text of an explanatory leaflet on the Code is available from them. Any request to the Home Office for information will be handled in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Practice.
